STD’s can happen to anyone at any age and any ethnicity. We have all heard that you can get an STD by having unprotected sex, but have you heard some other ways to get an STD. STD’s are spread through contact with infected skin or mucous membranes, such as mouth sores. Exposure to infected bodily fluids can happen through vaginal, anal,or oral sex. Anal sex is very risky because it often causes bleeding. You can also be exposed to infected body fluids by sharing needles or syringes, non sterile tattoo needles, and not sterile ear piercing equipment.
While most STD’s are spread through direct sexual contact, remember that sex is not the only way to get an STD. The best way to prevent and STD is to remain abstinent. The only way to know for certain that you are STD free is to get tested.
