Does the Fit of Your Condom Matter?

Have you ever thought about if you are using the right size condom? The correct size of a condom is very important if you are hoping it will protect you against STD’s. If the condom you are wearing is too small it could break break, leading to unwanted exposure. If the condom is too large it could slip off, also possibly leading to unwanted exposure. If either of these happened, you could be at a greater risk of contracting an STD.

A condom being too large is the more likely scenario, because condoms are usually very stretchy. To find the best fit for you, and prevent the possible contraction of an STD, a little experimentation may be in order. Try them on and see if they fit before they are used. It may waste a little money now, but won’t you be happier down the road knowing it has helped keep you STD free!

The best way to not get and STD is to stay abstinent. If that isn’t an option make sure that the condom you are using fits, and always practice safe sex.

What are Crabs?

No, I am not talking about the underwater creature, I am talking about pubic lice. Crabs are tiny parasitic blood-sucking wingless insects that infest the human genitals.

Once someone becomes infested with Crabs, or pubic lice, it usually takes 5-7 day to notices. Crabs do not only go for the pubic region, but go for any coarse hair on the body. For example:

-Eyelashes
-Mustaches or Beards
-Pubic Hair
-Eyebrows
-Chest Hair
-Armpit Hair

The itching of crabs is actually a mild form of pain that occurs from the strong jaw of the crab while its eating the infested persons blood. If the crab has infested other parts of the body the infested area such as your eyebrows or eyelashes, your eyes will start to inch and water. There symptoms are similar to allergies, only thing is, they will not let up!

Too Early to Test?

A new national study has found that 1 in four teenage girls is infected with one of four of the most common sexual transmitted disease. These included the human papillomavirus (HPV), chlamydia, genital herpes, and trichomoniasis.

Nearly half of the African American girls in the study (age 14 – 19) were infected with one of the diseases. This is compared to only 20 percent of white teenage girls that were infected with one of the diseases. Also, about 15 percent of women tested in the study had more that one disease.

Women may be unaware that they have an STD. So they should be on the lookout for symptoms such as:

-Irritating Vaginal discharge
-Pelvic inflammatory disease

If untreated, the long term effects could lead to infertility and cervical cancer.

STD’s do not discriminate you age. If you are sexually active, and/or having unprotected sex, you should most definitely get tested.

Some Syphilis Stats

Throughout the 1990′s, Primary and secondary syphilis declined by 90 percent. However in the early 2000′s the number of cases rose from 5,979 to 7,352.

The highest percentage age group with infectious syphilis are as follows

-Men: 35 – 39 years
-Women: 20 – 24 years

Now I’m not saying just because you are dating or sleeping around with someone in the age group, that you are going to get syphilis. What I am saying is that you should be aware that it is out there and if you do happen to sleep with someone in that age group that there is a higher chance of contracting the disease.

It is always a good idea to be tested annually, just to be safe.

What Comes Around…Goes Around

Good words to live by, I say, and now…the jig is up for a lot of men: a new scientific study has been done and is out for the “cheating” public to view. In it, the researchers found that patients (mostly males) with a previous heart condition have a much higher risk of a heart attack during sex…if that person is having an affair when participating in said sex.

So it’s pretty simple guys (especially those with a current heart condition), don’t cheat on your spouse. It just may cause many more problems for you than the affair itself ever could i.e. STDs, pregnancy, emotional stress etc, etc.
