Times Have Changed
It wasn’t too long ago in America’s history where sex, drugs and rock & roll where all the craze. No particular worries about STDs and one’s health – just living in the moment and feeling “free” to do what one wanted. Well, that kind of attitude has finally caught up with us. I mean, even Steven Tyler knows that. I just saw his interview with Matt Lauer and there he was – apologizing for all the drug use and what-not from his past. Times have certainly changed. And for a while now, STDs have been on the rise for quite some time and now the whole world has taken notice. No, I’m not suggesting that we Americans caused the wide spread panic, but we certainly didn’t help matters back in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. And even today – we are not really taking the necessary precautions to learn about STDs and how to properly protect ourselves. Let’s face it – how many times before have you started, your first sexually encounter with someone new, with the phrase; “Yep, I was screened for STDs this year and found out that I don’t have any – how about you?”
Unfortunately, we as a society, still have more of a retroactive stance against STDs rather than a proactive one. Yes, it’s getting better – but we still have a long way to go. Start making a difference (if you are sexually active with more than one person that you don’t know their sexually history) by using condoms and getting screened annually. And if you have many partners during a given year, semi-annually, and we make it easy for you to do – just click here.
