Is the testing confidential?
Our testing is confidential. A visit to the doctor’s office is not required, and results will not be shared with your doctor or your insurance company. However, certain positive test results will need to be reported to the Centers for Disease Control. Diseases reported and information provided to the CDC varies by state. All providers of STD screening services are required to report positive test results based on a particular patient’s state laws and regulations. As an added measure to protect your privacy, we use HT Services (Health Testing) as the identifier in our emails and credit card processing.

Why should I get tested?
If you have any symptoms such as genital scores or blisters, or if you have any unusual discharge from your penis or vagina then you should consider STD screening. We also encourage you to get tested annually if you are sexually active and have multiple partners since many STDs show few to no symptoms initially.

Even if I have an STD, I am not showing any symptoms. Why should I be concerned?
Although recently acquired STD infections can start off with few to no symptoms, they can develop into major health concerns such as PID (Pelvic Inflammatory Disease) and Sterility. Also you can still transmit STDs to your partner(s) even if you do not have any signs or symptoms.

How can I avoid contracting an STD?
The only way to completely protect yourself from STDs is to abstain from having sex. However, if you choose to be sexually active, then the best way to protect yourself from contracting an STD is to use latex condoms consistently and correctly. Condoms are not 100% effective, but they do provide a barrier between you and your partner’s blood and bodily fluids which could contain the viruses, bacteria and parasites that can cause STDs.

Since many people are unaware that they have STDs, proceed with caution if your partner(s) has never been tested despite having multiple sexual partners. Protect yourself and others by getting tested for STDs, and by urging your partner(s) to do the same.

Can I get tested today?
Yes. After you choose your STD tests, pick a local STD testing center convenient for you. You can make an appointment, but it is not necessary. You will need to print your Lab Order Requisition Form which will be supplied after you check out, and bring it to the local testing center during their normal business hours.

How long does the testing take?

Tests vary from test center to test center but an average test time is approximately 15 minutes.

Do you offer testing in all states?

We currently offer our services in all states with the exception of New Jersey, New York, or Rhode Island.

Does TestMeSTD.com take insurance?

We do not accept insurance. The personal information required by insurance companies would violate our confidentiality policy. However, if you have a Health Savings Account (HSA), feel free to use your HSA debit card to pay for your tests.

What if I am positive?
If you are positive, you will need to speak with a healthcare provider to determine your next steps and best treatment options. In addition, you will need to inform any partners as they will need to be tested and if necessary treated. It is possible to pass some infections back and forth if your partner has not been treated.

Are your STD tests accurate?
We use the same STD tests that you would receive at a hospital or from your doctor. Please be assured you are testing with the most accurate tests available.

Shouldn’t I just see my doctor for an STD test?
You should discuss sexual health concerns with your physician. However, it is has been our experience that the majority of healthcare providers cannot provide the services that TestMeSTD.com offers with the same level of confidentiality, convenience and cost savings. However, if you are positive you will need to speak with a healthcare provider to determine your next steps and best treatment options.

Why are there no test for HPV and Trichomoniasis?
Lab tests for HPV and Trichomoniasis are not currently available through TestMeSTD.com. Patients seeking testing for HPV and Trichomoniasis must see a healthcare provider to get tested.
